For the Love of Capes
It’s no secret that I love capes and all things flowy. I mean, I REALLY love capes. So, I couldn’t resist ordering this cape from Chic Me. Capes remind me of superheros…and well, I do love superheroes! Haha. However, I’m going to be blunt right away, this is not exactly my favorite cape.
When my husband first saw it he asked if I was graduating…because it looks similar to the shiny polyester gowns one wears at graduation. And I do have to say, it bears a striking resemblance in person. This might be why it’s not my favorite – I couldn’t get that picture out of my head after he said that! Haha. It didn’t look quite so shiny in the photo, but, things don’t always go perfectly when ordering online – right? (Although, I’ve had a heck of a run.)
I do like the cut and how long it is, though. And it was a good excuse to break out my red pumps…which I don’t get the chance to wear nearly enough. Red and black is easily my favorite color combo.
And I don’t want to knock on Chic Me too hard for this order, as I really loved my last item from them. (You can click here to see it.)

I love capes too but I can never find a good one, I’ve probably been searching for one for a few years. I adore the touch of red in your look.

Hi, dear Lindsey, I hope you had a great NYE party! Happy new year! I also love capes and this one looks amazing, and in the pictures I can’t see it shining – but I have to confess that after what I read – what your husband said about graduating – I can’t take the image out of my head either 🙂 BUT having said this, I still think you look amazing and I loved this cape, I would order it, shiny or not! If I had problems with things that I ordered online… a few, yes. One that I was like arrrgh, was an expensive ring to a friend, as a present, and she thought it was too big. It was Tory Burch, via net-a-porter and I said “look, let’s give it back and order something you prefer”. She said no, kept the ring and never wore it 🙁 But OK, a present is a present. Hope you have a wonderful near year, dear Lindsey, you will have great experiences and I am eager to take part as well!

As much as I love ordering online…there are those details that just don’t come across in photos! I wonder if there’s something you can do to it to get that shine off?

Happy New Year Lindsey!! I loveeee capes too! They’re not only insanely chic, but also because of superheroes! Haha, I’m so glad that you have an infinity for superheroes too. I used to be made fun of for liking them as a kid and now it’s cool to like superheroes. Go figure lol. Anyway, I know what you mean about online snafu’s. It happens, but I hate when it does.

I’m sorry to hear you were made fun of..I was picked on as well for it growing up. I ended up keeping it to myself until I was in college just how much I enjoyed “geeky” movies and comics as a result. It’s certainly nice that it’s becoming “cool” to enjoy these things now. Lol, weird how that works out.
