I have been on quite the polka dot kick lately. (Ok, I am always on a polka dot kick!) I think I’ve worn polka dots in every outfit post I’ve done for the past three weeks. Haha. I broke this polka dot dress from Shein out this weekend when I visited our local zoo!

The NEW Zoo in Suamico is awesome for so many reasons. I’ll do a separate post featuring it tomorrow, so, I don’t have too many things going on in this post. But look how close you can get to the giraffes in the photos below! It’s such a neat experience! And it only costs a dollar for a piece of lettuce to feed them. 🙂

This dress is only $16…and for that price I wasn’t entirely sure what I was going to get quality-wise. But once again, I was very happy with Shein! This dress is very light and breathes well – it was perfect for wandering through the zoo on a hot day. I really love the shape of it too.

My only complaint about this dress is that it does come with a cute belt…but there are no belt loops on the dress! I actually rolled some tape up and taped the belt so it didn’t look funny.

I also love how well it matched my Pikachu brooch! Did anyone else play Pokémon cards when they were growing up? I had one heck of a collection. Haha.

My brother and I collected them with my cousins and pretended we knew what we were doing with them. But we did know the holographic cards were “worth money” even if we never sold them. Haha. I actually still have mine in a box in storage. I just can’t part with them!

Did anyone else collect Pokémon cards growing up? And does anyone else share my love of polka dots? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Love this dress. It’s so ladylike and cute with the polkadots at the same time. You look amazing in that colour. Also loved (love? I think I still love it…) Pokémon! I had (have) the cards, had the games (on both gameboy and nintendo), had (have) the movies. I watched the series, read the series. Just everything Pokémon related I did/had it!
So I am truly adoring this post!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend.
    Much love,
    Mona

You sure are rocking a lot of polka dots! (New Girl quote/joke, in case you don’t watch the show!) Love you in this! That’s so sweet and sensitive of you to add that disclaimer. I think it’s a relevant thing to post about what to wear or patriotic outfits on a blog though. People often read blogs for holiday inspiration, and this was a classy way to do it. Hope you had an awesome weekend! XO

Love that dress! What a great price! And how cool that you can feed that giraffe, I’ve never been to a zoo where you could do that! 🙂

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Thank you so much, Laurie! And oh I know – $18? You can’t beat that! I’ve been to one other zoo that let me feed the giraffes…but the staff was so rude and awful it was actually a pretty bad experience. But the NEW Zoo is seriously such a magical experience! If you ever find yourself in Northeast Wisconsin – you have to visit. 🙂

  8. Nicole Schoultz says:

You had me at Pokémon with this post! I was never into the cards, but I used to be so into the Nintendo DS games. My husband just bought the newest Nintendo DS unit as you could download the original Pokémon games onto that system. My Chihuahua was named after Pikachu. Went to Tokyo to search out the Pokémon Center even! I still have a collection of stuffed Pikachu’s in my craft room. Cutest character ever!
On another note, your outfit is cute.

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Thank you so much, Nicole! Haha – I completely forgot how many hours we also spent playing Pokemon on our Gameboy! Zac was talking about purchasing a Nintendo DS just to play Pokemon too – that’s too funny that your husband did the same! Oooh, I would love to hear more about your experience at the Pokemon Center! Tokyo is on our travel list! Aw, and I do remember Pikachu – she was such a sweet pup. 🙂

      1. Nicole Schoultz says:

Oh wow, I didn’t even remember they were called the Gameboy, not a DS back then. With the new DS, you could download the original games through the Nintendo store for $10! My husband likes originals better as he said the newer Pokémon games were getting so difficult.

The Pokémon Center is a huge store, anything you could imagine, even toasters with the pokeball symbol on it which’d imprint on the bread. I remember they had exclusive trading cards and I brought back for friends children. They had the main characters walking around, for nice photo ops.

It was our plan to possible get another pup when we got Pikachu, and we would have named that put Squirtle. That was my husband’s favorite.

        1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Was there maybe a DS back then and it was like the better/cooler version of the Gameboy? (Or did DS just come out later? I can’t really remember.) I really want to get a DS, now. Haha.

Oh my goodness! I want that toaster, haha. And it would be fun to buy some more trading cards to add to our collection. We’ll have to put that on our list of things to see when we visit Tokyo one day! I’m glad you brought it up!

Awww I loved Squirtle too. What a cute idea to name a puppy that too! 🙂

  9. Emma Rankin says:

I love Pokemon, i still play the games now and I like the fact that you wore a pikachu badge =]

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Thank you so much, Emma! And that’s awesome you still play the games! 🙂 After reading Nicoles comment, I kind of want to start playing again on the Nintendo DS. 🙂

  10. oh i absolutely adore your dress,i am polka dot mad and always have been since i was a little girl, you look fantastic x
