UPDATE to “My 1st Online Order Horror Story”

About a month ago, I had an incident with a red coat from MakemeChic that had bled on my white Kate Spade bag. (If you missed the post, click here.) I was SO mad about it. I adore this bag, and I had honestly thought I ruined it. BUT, fortunately, it was able to be saved.

It obviously took a long time for Lawrence Cleaners to get the stain out, but they were able to remove it. THANK GOD. And they charged $40 for their service. I’m very happy to report, MakemeChic was an absolute dream to work with on resolving the matter, too! They responded promptly (despite it being the Chinese New Year), and we were able to work out how this would work best for me. They had even offered to send me $100 worth of merchandise, but I declined and asked instead for my cleaning bill to be covered (which was $40). They promptly paid this once I gave them the exact amount from Lawrence Cleaners.

I was so happy with how well this worked out! I never would have imagined that 1.) The stain would actually be able to be removed. 2.) That MakemeChic would be so awesome about the incident. They apologized profusely for it happening too.

They have actually sold out of this coat, but I was the only person who has reported such an issue with it. So, we suspect my coat may have been defective. And I also had a lot of questions from friends on whether or not I would get reimbursed for the coat as well, but that wouldn’t be necessary as I had not actually paid for this coat. MakemeChic had been a sponsor of mine for quite some time. (As a reminder, if you’re ever curious whether or not I paid for an item, any item I did not pay for will say “c/o*” in the “Where To Find” it section. This means “courtesy of.”)

So, needless to say, it feels good to be reunited with my lovely bag! And I am SO happy with how MakemeChic handled this matter. (Also – they did not ask me to write this post. I just wanted to honestly say what I felt about the situation and give an update.)

  3. I am so happy to hear that this problem was dealt with so promptly. I do wonder though whether the brand would be accommodating to a normal person who doesn’t have a blog or the power to influence people’s purchases if this problem occurred. Nonetheless it is amazing you had your cleaning bill paid for.

    1. Thank you so much! And I guess, I can’t answer that. Given that they didn’t ask me to write a blog post or update my previous one…I’m assuming they would do the right thing for someone who didn’t have a blog, though.

  4. So happy the bag was cleaned as it’s gorgeous and it would have been such a shame. Also, it’s nice to hear that the brand did the right thing.

  6. I just had an issue with a complimentary item I was sent to review. I’m pleased to report the company I’m working with has also been really great about it and is sending me a replacement. I appreciate good business practices so much!

    1. That is good to hear! And oh yes – there is nothing better than a company that has good business practices. 🙂

  7. I can report a story of initial poor customer service on an ebay order than ended well. A wrong size arrived and while I got a return mailer label and a refund on the purchase, no offer to send the correct size was forthcoming, nor an apology for advertising the incorrect size to begin with. So I gave a negative review. The vendor followed up with me and issued a generous incentive credit to my paypal, and I intend to shop from them in the future. I revised my review and they were also very cute in calling me “An A+++ customer” on my customer review! I was very appreciative of how they tried to rectify the situation and told them as much. All good!

Glad your issue ended well and that you were so reasonable on your end with declining what you deemed excessive remedy from make me chic. Keep on keepin on!

    1. That is awesome that you had a happy ending to your story as well, Bryony! It’s so wonderful to have companies out there willing to work with their customers. 🙂

  8. It’s so nice when a company does the right thing!! Because I always figure that mistakes happen to everyone—it’s how you respond and make them right that is the big issue!!
And you look so happy with your purse back to normal!!

    1. Yes! My thoughts exactly! Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, but if you own up to them and try to fix them – then that is really what matters. I’m really happy with how this all worked out. 🙂 And thank you so much, Jodie!
