We’re Moving Across the World…Again!

We're moving!

Yep, you read that title right. We are moving all the way across the world yet again! Don’t worry, we’re just as surprised as you. We really thought we were going to be calling Australia home for much longer than 6 months. But hey, no complaints here! We’re all for new adventures.

We actually just squared away the last of the details yesterday, so now I can say with certainty we are moving to Rosario, Argentina on April 8th! It’s about a 4-hour drive north of Buenos Aires. We’re both really excited for this new opportunity. We are, however, going to have to take some Spanish lessons!

And neither of us is terribly familiar with Argentina, so if anyone has been there and has any tips, we’re all ears in the comments section!

We’ll get to “scratch off” a lot of area on our cool map!

The Details

*Our last day in Australia is March 31st.

*From Australia, we’re actually flying to New Zealand. We were able to get a really good flight directly from Auckland to Buenos Aires on April 7th. So, we decided to take our extra week and use it to tour New Zealand for this reason.

*We’ll be starting in Queenstown and working our way up to Rotorua and then over to Auckland. There will be bungee jumping, skydiving, glow worm caves, mountains, Hobbiton and much more!

*Then we fly from Auckland into Buenos Aires and drive up to our new home in Rosario!

  4. First of all – very excited for you! Secondly, waiting for the NZ’s adventures, you are doing it well! Go there before your leave, of course. Third – we need to talk to each other, will write to you privately. You will understand why. I have been to Argentina many times and I just don’t write much about it because you know how I feel – mine is not really a travel blog, although I am always “jumping”, and I feel that the ones who read my blog would feel like “ah, bragging” – but I guess but now people know I am not like that, but anyway, too much written to tell I will write you soon 🙂 Your skirt is amazing, you look great and wow, I am so excited now! Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Oh my goodness, Lindsey, you’re such a worldly gal! Good luck in your new home. I know nothing about it.

  7. Good luck with move. Can’t wait to see your adventures there. Also excited to hear about New Zealand, it’s another place on our list (I’m really sure there aren’t many places that aren’t on our list) to visit. There’s supposed to be amazing hiking in NZ.

    1. Thank you, Nicole! Haha, I hear you. I really can’t think of any places that aren’t on our list either. Oh yes – I’m really excited to do some hiking in NZ! Thank you, again! 🙂

  8. Argentina holds a special place in my heart–I’ve been there 3 times and have dear friends in Montevideo, Uruguay, which is right next door and like a mini Argentina. In fact, if BA feels too big and impersonal (I see the other commentor didnt care for it), Montevideo is a much cozier, lower key and still very hip city, and its location right at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata is outstanding. The town of Colonia del sur west of Montevideo is darling too, and worth a visit.

That said, i’ve never been to Rosario! While in Argentina, i hit the Iguazu area, as well as Mendoza and Bariloche. If you have the chance to take the bus over the Andes to Chile, do so from Mendoza–the trip is spectacular. If you are interested in hiring a wildlife guide in northern Argentina, I can get the name of the fellow who both my sister and friend Zosia used on different occasions–they saw incredible scenery and native fauna with him, and went places by private car that are not accessible by bus (at the time anyway, this was about 7 years ago).

There is a really evocative story from the New Yorker recently, set about 20 years ago, that totally captures the feel of the region where you will be. Here is the link to the author interview and also her story. Argentina is full of ghosts and mystery. It can be a very dark place, while also feeling completely safe as a visitor. I love its edge.

Can’t wait to see your posts from el cono sur!

    1. That is awesome, Bryony! And your recommendations are so helpful! We just found out about the move, so we haven’t had too much time to research the area yet. Once we get settle, I’ll have to get the wildlife guide’s name from you. 🙂 And I am going to read that article right now – it sounds very intriguing. Thank you so much, Bryony!

  9. Now that’s a perfect skirt for you Lindsey—considering your lifestyle!! I added you on Snapchat (I’m @jfilogomo)!!
We actually didn’t love Buenos Aires—but I think it was more the timing and such!! I really can’t wait to hear about your fun!
