Halloween Costume Trends for 2023: 10 of The Best Pop Culture Costumes

Halloween is almost here, and everyone is already planning their costumes. Two things that are important for a costume is the creative thought and execution. You can always wear the classic spooky DIY costumes or you can take inspiration from the best trending pop culture references in this post. Enjoy!

1. Barbie & Ken

The Barbie film is the most popular and anticipated inspiration for this year’s Halloween costumes, especially the matching cowboy outfits if you’re looking for a couple’s costume. A few people believe that the dancing scene of Ken in black pants and shirt would also be the inspiration for many this Halloween. Another popular costume, that is the talk of the town, is the Kenough hoodie.

2. Wednesday

Adam’s character in the series Wednesday is also a creative inspiration for Halloween costumes this year. Those spooky pigtails and the monotone black costume can seal the deal. For additional effect, you can try to have a permanent frown on the face. However, the show came out last year after Halloween. This year, fans can use the inspiration.

3. Little Mermaid

A mermaid princess is the best idea for a Halloween costume as Halle Bailey portrays this character in The Little Mermaid. The shimmery skirt with a bikini is very popular among audiences. You can easily copy that. Also, you can add other creative ideas to this look, such as a wig and bring a long stuffed fish friend.

4. Taylor Swift

Who can forget the Eras Tour of Taylor Swift? If you want a classy and modern Halloween costume. Then Taylor Swift is the perfect vision. You can handpick any outfit from this tour, and it would make a bedazzling costume. The tight jumpsuits will transform you into an iconic pop-culture diva this Halloween. Just bring along a microphone!

5. Oppenheimer

Another popular film of this year is Oppenheimer. A bunch of people predict that this Halloween, they will see a lot of the Fathers of Atomic Bomb on the streets. It does not require too much effort to replicate the vintage look of Cillian Murphy’s character. A brown fedora and a professional trench coat will make an astounding Halloween Costume.

6. Spider-Man

It’s a classic Halloween costume. But what brings it back to the streets is the animated film of Miles Morales. You can wear any Spider-man costume to portray this character. You can always make it a group costume by wearing other superhero outfits as Spider-Man crosses paths with other figures in five different universes.

7. Yellowjackets

If you want the creepy Halloween costume, Antler Queen from the Yellowjackets is the best look. You can always use some soccer-themed uniforms and add blood to the mouth for the sinister effect. Someone shared that you can customize the jersey by adding a roller derby number.

8. Mario and Luigi

Mario and Luigi is always a great idea as a Halloween costume! However, it is especially trendy this year, after the debut of the The Super Mario Bros. Movie earlier this year.

9. Ted Lasso

Unfortunately, this year was the last year for the hit series Ted Lasso. If you are a fan of the show dressing up as Ted for Halloween will be a fun and recognizable costume. To dress as Ted Lasso for Halloween, sport a light gray or blue coach’s jacket over a collared shirt in light blue or white paired with khaki pants or shorts and comfortable, neutral-colored athletic shoes. Top it off with a visor or baseball cap, and consider adding a coach’s whistle on a lanyard and carrying a clipboard with playful notes. Lastly, exude Ted Lasso’s infectious positive attitude and smile throughout the festivities to fully capture the character’s spirit.

10. Rihanna
