Secondhand Summer Dress & Online Thrifting

I officially no longer know what season it is here. The calendar tells me it’s winter, and I was wearing boots, scarves, mittens and a winter coat last weekend…but this weekend we had weather that hit 80 degrees Fahrenheit! This left me scratching my head over how I should dress, as I had only unpacked my warm clothes since we arrived in Argentina.

However, sifting through my summer wardrobe I was excited to pull out this dress! Not only had it not wrinkled while it was being stored (huge bonus points for not having to iron it, haha), but it was a nice reminder of just how awesome shopping for it was. This was a dress I had found secondhand on thredUP, which is an amazing online thrift store. (This dress was only $13 and looked brand new when it arrived!) But don’t worry, I linked to some similar floral options at the bottom of this post, and thredUP has so many cute secondhand, floral dresses available too! (Click here to see them.)

I’m not a very good thrift shopper, as I generally don’t have the patience to sift through racks and racks of clothing to find what I’m looking for + get it in my size. However, thredUP makes it so gosh darn easy to shop secondhand for us lazy shoppers who prefer shopping from the comfort of our couch. You can sort the clothing available by your size, price range, colors, brands, etc. I love it! (And you can get 15% off your order if you use code PCKGHDFC.)

I had worn this cute dress for trying some of the local cafes in the area and walking through some of the lovely parks here in Rosario. We also went out for dinner to get steak with our friends (again). I swear I’ve eaten more steak in the past couple months than I have in my entire life. Haha. But when in Argentina….

And this park, where I took these photos, is HUGE. It’s Parque de la Independencia and there’s a little lake in the center of it, where you can rent paddle boats (you can kind of see them in the photo below). There are also cafes, a lot of street vendors selling food, ponies and llamas for the kids to pet and ride…and lots of Pokemon to be caught. Haha. We’ve really been enjoying this park. (Expect many more photos from this park in the future!)

  1. Such a beautiful look! I LOVE ThredUP! I did a collab with them and actually sent them a closet clean out bag recently.

    1. Thank you, Sadie! Unfortunately, (unless it’s changed recently), I think they’re only available in the US. 🙁 I’m so sorry.

  2. I love consignment shopping and this dress is a great find. You look beautiful!\

  3. I have also bought secondhand clothing before. It was not an online shop but a secondhand market where I was sometimes able to buy clothing by kilo or by piece… But it is not a point. The main thing was and is always to me whether my garments suit or not… If the outfit suits, it is the best pleasure.

Your dress is wonderful and it suits you so much! Really, a great look!

At my last weekend I wore only a swim suit. I and my husband did boating. Firstly, we had run on stones and I fell into the river. Secondly, my husband felt as a hero and so high-spirited that he fell into the water while paddling… Anyway, we had a lot of fun…

Have a nice week, dear LIndsey!

    1. that is very true! It’s all about whether or not it suits you. And thank you so much! Ahhh! And your weekend sounds fabulous!! I’m jealous. Haha. Hope you’re having a wonderful week too!

  4. I’ve been such a fan of Thredup lately! I picked up my first honest-to-goodness maternity dress from there, and have done some selling through the site as well, and it’s wonderful! I just love this dress on you and the cardigan is such a perfect choice!

    1. Yay for thredUP!! I can’t wait to see your maternity dress! And thank you so much, Emily! 🙂

  5. Shopped many a time at ThredUp! I appreciate the curating as well, although I find similar vintage items for a better price on ebay. I love that ThredUp does kids clothes as well, so now that I have a baby daughter to shop for I think I will be revisiting their selection more often.

    1. Ooooh eBay is a site I need to frequent more often. And oh yes! That’s right! They have a great kids section.

  6. Secondhand or not, the important thing is its cute and it looks really good on you! 🙂

  7. You make a great point, LIndsey!! It is easier to shop online since they have items categorized!! But there are times I find unexpected things by looking through the racks!! There’s always a pro & con, right?
As for this dress—how fabulous!! And at least you are getting some variety with your clothing with the bipolar weather??
