My Honest Quince Linen Review: I Was Wrong About the Pants

I tested Quince’s linen pants, shirts, and maxi dress in real summer weather — then washed everything to see what held up.

I owe the Quince linen pants an apology.

In my last Quince review, I tried the white linen pants and returned them almost immediately because they were way too sheer. The comments on that video told me to try them again in a darker color.

And unfortunately for my closet, you were right.

So, in today’s post, I’m trying four linen pieces from Quince’s spring and summer line: the wide-leg pants, a white button-up, a tiered maxi dress, and a camp shirt.

Quince sent these pieces to me after that last review, but this post is not sponsored. There were no strings attached, and Quince does not get to approve this before it goes live.

This is still a first-impressions review, but I did wear my favorite outfit on an 85-degree day in Wisconsin and washed everything before filming my final thoughts.

And these pieces may have turned me into a linen person against my will.

Let’s start with the pants, because these were the biggest surprise.

100% EUROPEAN LINEN WIDE LEG PANTS

PIECE 1: 100% EUROPEAN LINEN WIDE LEG PANTS

These are the pants I tried in white before and returned almost immediately because they were way too see-through for me. This time I tried them in Bayberry Olive, and this color is fabulous.

These are $42, made from 100% linen, and they have an elastic waistband, drawstring, and actual pockets. I tried the 30-inch inseam, and the fit is very relaxed and easy.

And I know “easy” gets thrown around a lot with clothes, but these really do feel like pajama pants that look acceptable in public.

I wore them on an 85-degree day. I shot this video in them, worked in them, ran errands, and then wore them to dinner on a patio where I was partly sitting in the sun.

And I felt completely fine.

So, I  really dislike wearing shorts in the summer. I don’t find them comfortable, and I don’t really like how they look on me. I am not a shorts person. So finding a pair of pants I can wear on a hot day and still feel cool is a big deal for me.

They did wrinkle, obviously. They’re linen. That is the linen lifestyle, whether I like it or not.

But I don’t think they wrinkled in a bad way. They looked lived-in, not sloppy.

I am totally getting these in another color. The olive green is great, but now I get why people like these pants so much. So thank you to my comments section for convincing me to try these again!

100% EUROPEAN LINEN LONG SLEEVE SHIRT

PIECE 2: 100% EUROPEAN LINEN LONG SLEEVE SHIRT

I wore the pants with the 100% European Linen Long Sleeve Shirt in white, and this was easily my favorite outfit of the whole order.

This shirt is also $42 and made from 100% European linen. Quince describes it as a button-up you can wear on its own or open as a light layer, and I do think that’s accurate.

The biggest thing for me: I do not have to wear a shirt underneath it if I do not want to.

That is huge because a lot of white shirts look cute online, then you put them on, and suddenly everyone knows exactly what bra you’re wearing.

This one is not see-through on me. I wore it in a few different types of lighting, and I didn’t feel like my bra was showing through. I made my husband check!

I also like that it gives me sun coverage without making me feel like I’m overheating..

My husband saw me filming in this outfit and said I looked “so cool and comfortable,” which is the exact summer clothing compliment I want at this stage of life.

So I kept the outfit on for the rest of the day.

For $42 each, I think both the pants and the shirt look much more expensive than they are and are really good summer buys.

100% EUROPEAN LINEN TIERED MAXI DRESS

PIECE 3: 100% EUROPEAN LINEN TIERED MAXI DRESS

Next is the 100% European Linen Tiered Maxi Dress in Blue Pinstripe.

I ordered this one because it reminded me of the Anthropologie Somerset Maxi Dress, which is one of those dresses people really seem to love.

And I get why. That style is very flattering on a lot of body types.

But I personally hated the waistband on the Somerset dress. I tried it, and within about 30 seconds, I knew it was going back. It just wasn’t comfortable on me, and I knew I would never wear it.

So I was curious to see how the Quince version would feel.

This one has a much more forgiving waistband. I don’t notice it at all it when I’m wearing it, which is exactly what I want from a summer dress.

dress is lined

It also has nice deep pockets, which I always appreciate, and this Blue Pinstripe version is lined. The bust is lined too, so again, I’m not worried about it being see-through.

That is surprisingly hard to find now.

This one is $84, but I do think that is a fair price point.. It’s comfortable, it’s breathable, and it gives you that pulled-together look without requiring much styling.

loose threads on dress

My only hesitation is that I did notice quite a few loose threads on this dress. Not enough that I would immediately send it back, but enough that I noticed.

So I’ll be paying attention to how it holds up after washing and wearing it more.

First impression, though? I really like it.

100% EUROPEAN LINEN CAMP SHIRT

PIECE 4: 100% EUROPEAN LINEN CAMP SHIRT

Last is the 100% European Linen Camp Shirt in Blue Pinstripe.

This one is also $42 and made from 100% European linen. It has that relaxed, boxier camp shirt shape, and I kind of knew going in that this might not be my personal favorite.

And that ended up being true.

There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s comfortable, it feels nice, and I can see it being cute with the right pants or shorts.

I just don’t think this shape is the most flattering on me.

100% EUROPEAN LINEN CAMP SHIRT

I tried it a few different ways — buttoned, unbuttoned, tucked in, and with jean shorts. It looks fine. It’s just not my favorite Quince linen piece.

That said, I do think I’ll use it this summer. It would be easy as a swimsuit cover-up, or something to throw on over a tank when I want a lightweight layer.

loose threads on camp shirt

I also noticed a few loose threads on this piece too, which is something I’ll keep an eye on.

So this one is not a bad buy. It’s just the one I’m least excited about personally.

LINEN REALITY CHECK

Now, here’s where I have to be honest.

I have never really been a linen girl because I hate ironing things.

Actually, I don’t even own an iron.

I have a small handheld steamer, and steaming these pieces before filming was a whole event. I did not even get all the wrinkles out.

So yes, linen is higher maintenance than a lot of the clothes I normally reach for.

But I also get it now.

It’s breathable. It’s comfortable. It looks nice without feeling stiff or fussy. And the older I get, the more I care about clothing that is comfortable and simple, but still makes me feel put together.

These pieces really fit that.

Would I pack them for travel? I’m not totally sure yet.

Linen wrinkles so easily that I don’t know if these would be my first choice for a suitcase, especially if I’m trying to travel light and not steam everything when I arrive.

But for summer at home? Running errands, working, going to dinner, sitting outside, casual summer days?

Yes. Absolutely.

WASH UPDATE

Before finishing this review, I also washed all four pieces because I wanted to see what happened after laundry.

I washed everything and then fluffed the pieces in the dryer, and so far, everything seems fine. The fabric still feels good, I’m not noticing any weird shrinkage, and the loose threads I saw on the dress and camp shirt didn’t seem to turn into a bigger issue.

So at this point, I’m treating that as more of a minor quality-control note than a dealbreaker. I’ll still keep an eye on how they hold up after more washes, but after the first wash, nothing alarming happened.

FINAL THOUGHTS

So my first impression of Quince’s linen line is mostly very positive.

The olive linen pants and white long sleeve shirt are the clear winners for me. That outfit instantly became something I know I’ll wear a lot this summer.

The tiered maxi dress is also very promising. I love that it’s lined, comfortable, and has a forgiving waistband.

The camp shirt is my least favorite, but mostly because it’s not my personal style. I still think it could work really well for someone who likes that boxier, relaxed fit.

My main concern so far is the loose threads on the dress and camp shirt. I don’t know yet if that means anything long-term, but I noticed it, so I’m mentioning it.

Overall, though, I think these are really good price points for 100% linen. The $42 pants and shirts especially feel like a strong buy.

I’ll keep wearing and washing these, and I’ll update the description or comments if anything changes.

If you’ve tried Quince linen, please let me know what you thought — especially if there’s a color or piece I need to try next.
