Karoline Leavitt Is Pregnant With Baby No. 2, Making History as First Expecting White House Press Secretary
Karoline Leavitt is expecting her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio — a milestone that will make her the first pregnant White House press secretary in U.S. history.

Leavitt, 28, announced the pregnancy on Instagram this week, sharing photos of herself in front of a Christmas tree while cradling her baby bump. In the caption, she revealed the couple is expecting a baby girl in May 2026.
“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — a baby girl coming in May 2026,” Leavitt wrote, adding that she and her husband are excited to watch their son become a big brother.
The couple is already parents to son Nicholas Robert “Niko” Riccio, who is about 17 months old. Leavitt and Riccio welcomed him in July 2024, shortly after getting engaged the previous Christmas.
A senior White House official confirmed to Fox News that Leavitt plans to remain in her role throughout the pregnancy, marking a first for the position. The White House has not issued an official public statement.
Leavitt previously made headlines after returning to work on Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign shortly after giving birth, saying she felt compelled to resume her role following the July assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
“I looked at my husband and said, ‘Looks like I’m going back to work,’” she said in an October 2024 interview.
For now, Leavitt says she’s focused on growing her family — and preparing for a historic chapter in the White House.
The attention around Leavitt’s pregnancy also lands amid ongoing conversations about how women in public-facing roles are covered by the media — particularly when personal milestones become headlines. Recent reporting has examined how women’s bodies and private lives are scrutinized far more closely than their male counterparts, even when the news has little to do with policy or performance.
