Severe Flooding Hit Shiocton, New London, and Nearby Wisconsin Communities. Here’s Where to Donate and Help.
Parts of northeastern Wisconsin are dealing with serious flooding right now, with Shiocton, New London, Fremont, and nearby communities all feeling the impact.
Shiocton is my hometown, so this one hits especially close to home for me.

For a lot of residents, the flooding itself is just the beginning. Now they’re dealing with damaged homes, being displaced, missing work, and a pretty overwhelming cleanup.
If you’ve been wondering how to help, there are a few clear ways to do it.
How to Help Flood Victims in Shiocton and Nearby Wisconsin Communities
Right now, the most useful help seems to fall into two categories: money and specific supplies.
Donate Money
Officials have been pretty direct that financial donations are often the most helpful, because needs are changing quickly and cleanup is going to be expensive.
People looking to help can donate through the following relief efforts:
- New London Area Chamber Foundation — The organization says 100% of donations will go directly to local residents, businesses, and nonprofits affected by flooding.
Link: newlondonchamber.com - United Way Fox Cities / Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region — Outagamie County’s emergency update said this fund had already raised $20,000 for flood relief, with more donations still needed.
Link: unitedwayfoxcities.org - Shiocton-area monetary donations — Black Creek Fire & Rescue also shared a donation link connected to local relief efforts for those impacted in Shiocton.

If your employer offers donation matching (through Benevity or a similar platform), this is a great time to use it.
Search for organizations like:
- New London Area Chamber Foundation
- United Way Fox Cities
- Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Even smaller donations can go a lot further if they’re matched.
Donate Needed Supplies
Black Creek Fire & Rescue has been named the designated collection site for donations for the Village of Shiocton, and their post really puts the scale of this into perspective. Shiocton has roughly 419 homes and apartments affected.
According to the fire department, these are some of the items still needed:
- Laundry detergent
- Dryer sheets
- Dish soap
- Garbage bags
- Feminine products
- Towels
- Pillows
- Clotheslines (HUGE need of these)
- 3- to 5-gallon buckets
- Bleach
- Other disinfectants
- Non-perishable food
- Gift cards for gas, groceries, Walmart, and other essentials
Donations can be dropped off at Black Creek Fire Station, W5200 County Rd B, Black Creek. The department said they’ll be there during posted collection hours, and people with large donations can message ahead to arrange drop-off.
Another option, now, is to purchase these items via the Black Creek Fire and Rescue’s Amazon Wishlist. The items purchased will then be delivered directly to the station.
Other Ways to Help
If donating money or supplies isn’t possible, there are still ways to be useful.
The New London Area Chamber of Commerce encouraged people to share verified posts and check in on displaced residents staying in local hotels, reach out to friends, family, and neighbors who may need help.
And for anyone tempted to drive into flooded areas to “see how bad it is,” officials have made it very clear: don’t. Outagamie County said people need to stay out of Shiocton because traffic and water wakes can actually damage sandbag barriers and make things worse for residents who have been trying to protect their homes.
Recovery Is Just Beginning
The water may be receding, but that doesn’t mean this is over.
The good news is that people are already showing up in a big way. Black Creek Fire & Rescue said the community response has been overwhelming…but there’s still a long way to go. So if you’ve been wanting to help, now’s a good time to do it, and now there are a few solid places to start.
If there are other verified ways to help that should be included here, feel free to email me at [email protected], and I’d be glad to update this post.
