The First Completely Gluten-Free Ocean Cruise Is Coming — And Travelers With Celiac Disease May Finally Get to Relax
The 2028 sailing will feature 11 gluten-free dining venues and no gluten-containing products onboard.

For most travelers, eating on vacation is part of the fun.
For travelers with celiac disease, it can be one of the most stressful parts of a trip.
Every meal comes with questions about ingredients and cross-contamination. That’s why a new cruise announcement immediately caught my attention. I have a couple of family members with celiac disease (who love to travel), and the idea of taking a vacation without worrying about every meal sounds amazing.
Celiac Cruise is planning what it says will be the first completely gluten-free ocean cruise. The sailing is scheduled for May 31 to June 12, 2028, aboard Oceania Cruises’ Vista and will travel through England, Ireland, and Scotland.
The biggest difference is that the entire ship will operate without gluten-containing products onboard.
According to Celiac Cruise, the voyage will feature 11 fully gluten-free dining venues, including everything from the Grand Dining Room to casual eateries and a French patisserie. Instead of being limited to a special menu or designated dining area, guests will be able to eat throughout the ship without the usual concerns about cross-contact.
Celiac Cruise has operated gluten-free sailings for years with cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, AmaWaterways, and Oceania Cruises. While some of its previous cruises featured dedicated gluten-free dining spaces, this will be its first fully gluten-free ocean voyage.
For travelers with celiac disease, that could be a game-changer.
When one person in a family has celiac disease, everyone often ends up planning around it. Restaurant choices become more limited, spontaneous meals become harder, and someone is always checking ingredients.
A cruise where every restaurant is gluten-free removes much of that stress and lets travelers focus on the vacation itself instead of what’s on the menu.
Since the sailing includes stops around the British Isles, travelers may also want to think ahead about layers, rain gear, and comfortable shoes. I’ve covered what to pack for Ireland before, and many of the same pieces would work well for this kind of cruise itinerary.
