More Maxi Skirts, Please
Maxi skirts and dresses always seemed to fall into the casual category for me. Don’t get me wrong, I always thought they were cute, but the material and cuts were always more like wearing sweatpants in skirt form (which, again, I personally think is a great idea). However, I just recently discovered a whole world of maxi skirts and dresses that are filled with layers of chiffon and tulle…which would make them decidedly not casual attire. And thus, cementing a whole new obsession for me – give me all the twirly, swirly maxi skirts, please!
This skirt is another one of my finds from NewChic, and it is just under $12! You can’t beat that price. I really love the way this skirt moves when I walk – it’s so fun and fairytale-like. This skirt also came with more tulle fabric to tie into a bow belt around my waist…however, I completely forgot about it when I was getting dressed that day. I will show you how that looks next time I break this skirt out (and trust me, there’ll be a next time). The only thing to be aware of with this skirt is it doesn’t exactly look like the picture of it on the website. I think this is another case of the model being about 4 feet tall, so the skirt looks super duper long on her. (And for reference, I’m about 5’5″.) I’m happy with the length of the skirt…it just doesn’t really look like the photo on the site.
My top is also from NewChic for only $6! For $6 it is absolutely awesome quality. My mom is actually ordering this top in a few colors now that she saw how cute mine is, haha. My only complaint about this top (which you can’t see in these photos) is that it’s a bit short. If I were to wear it with a pair of pants, it would sit right above the button on a pair of normal rise pants. Which, really there’s nothing wrong with that…It’s just my personal preference to like my tops so long they almost cover my backside!
And holy moly, I’m wearing a short-sleeved shirt in these photos and not freezing my butt off! It has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL this past week. I’m finally starting to dig out some spring outfits, and slowly putting away my tights and boots. It’s really exciting, haha.

You got the top for $6 ?? That’s amazing! I love deals like that 🙂 Question on the skirt, does it attract static electricity? Don’t laugh, I’m serious. Where I live it’s super, super dry in the winter and these darn French like everything made out of acrylic so I shock myself all day long!
Oh no, I understand what you mean. I had lived in the northern United States when I wore this outfit, and it’s very dry in the winter as well. This skirt does get a bit of static, but not too bad. I have another skirt like this that is midi length from a different retailer and it is HORRIBLE with static electricity…I don’t wear it anymore for that reason. Haha. But I swear this one isn’t bad at all. (Static guard helps too.) 🙂

This is a gorgeous outfit!! I love how you added the scarf and that bag! And that site sounds like it would be for me. I always have the opposite problem when looking for maxi skirts (hence why I have none at the moment.) The model is so tall that when I get the skirt it’s dragging on the floor, haha. You look amazing!

I’m kind of amazed you got that skirt for only $12 and it sits perfectly on you! Whenever I’ve bought a cheap tulle skirt it puffs out a little too much! I have to agree about the maxi skirts being casual, but this definitely lifts it up! Love how you get movement pictures with blurring, I’ve yet to master that :p

This tulle skirt is so cute! Totally twirl worthy too! I love the lace detailing on the top. You cannot beat these prices too. I’m all about that haha. It felt like summer this past weekend. Man, was I happy lol. Now it’s raining and cold though so boooo to that.

Well, it looks like a party outfit, I would hope this trend doesn’t continue. I myself would never let my girlfriend wear this out unless we were going to a formal party, never in everyday apparel. Sorry!
To each their own! 🙂 This outfit was worn for dinner, but by no means a formal party…although it would work for that too. Fortunately, my husband does not dictate what I wear and is quite supportive of all my fashion choices.
I think you look very nice. You are right, the skirt doesn’t look like the one advertise but at least you were happy with it. I like maxi dresses and skirts, I always think of ball gowns and princesses when I wear one.

That is definitely a different type of maxi skirt than the typical jersey ones. So, romantic! It kind of has the same dramatic, flowy feeling of a maxi circle skirt I came across on the blog, Finding Femme, that had me feeling some kind of way about maxi skirts. Hahaha.
