A Woman Asked Facebook How to Get More Attention — and the Responses Went Fully Off the Rails

Need a laugh? A single post led to one of the funniest comment threads you’ll read all week.

A woman on Facebook jokingly asked the world for help getting “more attention,” and the comments section absolutely sprinted with it. Her post already sounded like the opening line of a memoir: she does CrossFit, lost weight, eats mostly vegetarian, has a sleeve tattoo, and is in the middle of a divorce. “What else can I do for attention?” she wrote. “LMK.”

She probably expected a few playful replies. Instead, she unlocked a full brainstorming session on how to become the main character online.

The Hair-Related Spiral

Several people immediately diagnosed the problem:
“I see you don’t have bangs.”
Others escalated:
“Shave. Your. Head.”
“Haven’t dyed your hair red.”
And the most chaotic option:
“Film yourself cutting your own bangs. Then act shocked and cry about it.”

If hair is the universal language of a life transition, Facebook wants her fluent.

The Emotional Vaguebooking Playbook

This corner of the thread was… intense.
“Post a crying video then get mad when people ask what’s wrong.”
“Urgent prayer request. No questions please.”
“Hospital wristband pic that says ‘don’t ask.’”
“Tell people you have a lot on your heart lately, ask for silent prayers, and demand privacy.”

And the quietest, pettiest one of all:
“Leave the group chat every so often so people ask why you left.”

It’s incredible how much chaos you can cause without saying anything.

The Lifestyle Rebrand No One Saw Coming

People had suggestions ready for a full personality reboot:
“Become a runner. It’s trendy right now.”
“Homestead? Plants? Sourdough?”
“Time for a juice cleanse.”
“Clearly book a trip to Bali and become a yoga instructor.”

Someone also recommended:
“Buy a mechanically suspicious vehicle and modify it.”

The Social Media Attention Toolkit

This group listed out every classic attention-seeking move with precision:
“GRWM video.”
“A random plate of food with ‘IYKYK.’”
“Photo dump with the caption ‘my life is like a movie 😎.’”
“Post the details of every product you use ‘since everyone’s been asking.’”
“Start telling everyone how much protein you eat.”

And of course:
“So, I did a thing.”
Works for absolutely everything and nothing.

Relationship Drama as a Strategy

This category got spicy fast.
“Get pregnant and refuse to tell anyone who the father is.”
“Joint Facebook page with someone… then not.”
“Set your relationship status to ‘It’s Complicated.’”
“Have a baby and never show the dad.”
“Become a boy mom and make it mad weird.”

Some people really logged in with their whole chest.

The Inspirational-Quote Era

Facebook loves a mysterious philosopher arc.
“Post a selfie with a mystical quote.”
“Share something about how your struggles made you a boss babe.”
“They said I couldn’t handle the storm… but I AM the storm.”

The more cryptic the better.

Evangelical MLM Crossover (Of Course)

It was only a matter of time:
“Start selling an MLM 💜.”
“Go full evangelical and sing worship songs.”

Peak Facebook crossover episode.

The Unhinged Honorable Mentions

A few standouts deserved their own spotlight:
“Post a positive urine test with no context.”
“Turn your eyelids inside out.”
“Mark yourself safe from something that wasn’t relevant to you.”
“Plan a quinceañera or wedding for your dogs.”
“Start a podcast.”
“Ride a bike.”

“Move to the Midwest and buy a #saltlife bumper sticker.”

“Film yourself giving money to a homeless person.”

“Knee brace OVER jeans.”

“You drive a Jeep Wrangler yet?”

And this masterpiece:
“Post a selfie with a mystical quote.”

Facebook never disappoints!
