The Best Holiday Gifts for Pets, According to a Pet Parent With a Full House
A pet parent’s real-life guide to the toys, feeders, beds, and festive finds that actually make dogs, cats, and small pets happy.
If your household looks anything like mine, the pets pretty much run the show. And once the holidays roll around, forget it — between the costumes, the toys, the blankets, and the treats, it turns into a full-blown pet celebration.
Honestly, though? I love it. It’s so fun to watch your dog lose their mind over a new squeaky toy or your cat instantly claim a blanket like they’ve been waiting their whole life for it.

With two dogs and two senior cats, my house is full of personalities, food preferences, medical needs, and toy obsessions — so I’ve tried a lot of pet gifts over the years. And this year, I’ve rounded up the gifts my pets actually use and love — plus a few new picks I’m really excited about. This list has something for every creature: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, bearded dragons… and the dog moms who deserve a little something too.
So whether you’re shopping for your own crew or looking for a gift for the pet parent in your life, here’s a lineup of holiday gifts that are cute, fun, and actually useful.

Gifts for Dogs

4-in-1 Stacking Tree Toy (Petco)
This toy is such a hit in our house. The dogs love digging the little balls out of the tree and pulling the toys off the stack — it keeps their brains busy. And despite all the chaos, it’s held up really well. A great enrichment option that’s also adorable for the holidays.

Ultimate Pawprint Keepsake Kit (Makes 2)
A sentimental favorite. I bought these for my mom, grandpa, brother, and myself a few Christmases ago so we could make ornaments with all the dogs. It was SO fun. The kits are simple, but you do have to press pretty firmly with the letter stamps.
It’s sweet, personal, and makes a perfect keepsake for pet parents.

Merry Makings Dog Advent Calendar
This advent calendar is such a fun pick. It’s packed with toys and treats, and it turns the whole month into a daily surprise for your pup — which, let’s be honest, they fully believe they deserve. I got this for my pups this year, and I’m excited to open it with them!

Frog-on-a-Log Toy
Pippa is obsessed with this one. I don’t even have to stuff treats in it for her to get excited and find it. I’ve bought a lot of holiday dog toys over the years, and this is one of the few that immediately became a household favorite.

EMUST Dog Life Vests
For dogs who aren’t confident swimmers or dogs who just want to look adorable with little dorsal fins, this life vest is fantastic. I bought them a couple years ago, and they’ve been one of my best Amazon purchases to date. They’re durable, they fit well, and the dogs look so cute paddling around in them.
They also ended up saving both of our dogs last summer after an unfortunate boating snafu where they fell into the water and were too shocked to swim. They popped right back up and were totally fine. I can’t recommend these enough. (You can see them in action in the video below.)

Yeti Pillow Plush Toy
This oversized plush yeti is adorable and surprisingly sturdy — which is saying something because excited holiday playtime tends to get intense. Great for dogs who like a big toy they can drag around or flop on. It’s twice the size of Pippa, and she still loves to drag it around!

Buffalo Check Pet Pajamas
Buddy is wearing these in the photo above — they’re cute and festive, and great for a holiday picture. He’s not really a “pajama guy,” so I don’t use them often, but if you just want something affordable and seasonal for a quick photo op, these are sweet.

Light-Up Antler Costume Headband
Pippa is wearing these in the photo above. They’re adorable for Christmas pictures and add a fun, festive touch. Full disclosure: they were a little big on her tiny head, but still made for a cute moment.

Magical Sleigh Ride Santa Dog Bed
This one is ridiculously cute and festive. If you want to make your home feel extra Christmassy, this is the perfect way. It comes in large sizes, too!

Top Dog Travel Bag
I’ve had this bag for Buddy and Pippa for over 5 years now, and I use it every time I travel with them. It holds everything: food, collapsible bowls, toys, and treats. The little food storage containers are great, and it’s airline-approved. If you know someone traveling with their pets over the holidays, this is such a practical and appreciated gift.

GoDog Dragons Squeaky Dog Toy
My dogs are what you’d call toy destroyers — most plushes last about 10 minutes around here. But this goDog dragon toy? It’s stood up for months and has been a favorite for both of them. It’s durable, squeaky, and still in one piece. If your dog treats toys like chew-mitts, this is a gift worth its weight in gold. (Most GoDog toys hold up really well against them, and they really love these toys!)

Wisdom Panel Essential Dog DNA Test
Buddy was a stray, so we had no idea what he was mixed with. Our friends and family recommended Wisdom Panel, and I was excited to finally try it. And while I messed up the cheek swab the first time (oops), they sent me another kit for free so I could try again. Amazing customer service.
If you’ve ever wondered what your rescue pup actually is, this test makes a super fun holiday gift.

Dog Mom Box (CrateJoy)
This is such a fun gift for the human. Each box comes with treats and toys for the dog, plus dog-mom goodies. It supports small businesses and feels like a cheerful monthly surprise.
Gifts for Cats
Ito Rocky Interactive Cat Toys Automatic Electric Rotating Butterfly
My senior cats adore this thing. It comes with extra attachments, which is necessary because Dexter has “hunted” a butterfly or two to the afterlife. I even have a video of him going after it like he’s training for the Cat Olympics (see above).

OurPet’s Twice-the-Mice Squeaky Toys
Miss Kitty LOVES these. She carries them around like trophies and takes them on little “adventures.” The electronic squeak and catnip combo is apparently irresistible.

Buffalo Check Bowtie Breakaway Collar
Miss Kitty has had this little holiday bowtie collar for years, and it’s such a cute, low-effort way to make your cat look festive. I’m grabbing one for Dexter now, too. It’s simple, subtle, and perfect for holiday photos if your cats aren’t into full costumes.

Holiday Pickle Kicker
Dexter bunny-kicks this holiday pickle like it owes him money. Durable, catnip-filled, and silly — everything a good cat gift should be.

Holiday Mice
Cheap, cute, festive, and instantly lost under the couch — which means they’re a hit.

Flopping Fish Toy
This flopping fish has created absolute chaos in my house — the fun kind. The dogs and cats both get in on it. Admittedly, Dexter and the dogs like it a little more than Miss Kitty, but it does give everyone something to focus on together for a bit!

Cat Advent Calendar (Petco)
I got this one for them this year, and I’m so excited to open it with them. It’s packed with toys and treats and makes the whole month feel special.

Litter Robot 4+
Not having to scoop litter is a complete godsend, especially if you have multiple cats. I’ve used the Litter-Robot for years, and it’s made such a difference — once it cycles, I don’t smell anything, and Miss Kitty’s Litter-Robot actually lives in my closet.
Full disclosure, though, deep cleaning it once a month can be a bit of a pain, but it still beats constant scooping. If you want to invest in something that genuinely makes daily life easier for both you and your cats, this is it.
Gifts for Small Pets

Small-Animal Reindeer Costume (Petco)
This tiny reindeer costume for guinea pigs is absolutely precious. If you have a small pet — or know someone who treats their guinea pig like a holiday icon — this is such a cute and funny seasonal gift. Way more adorable than the standard Santa suit.

Bearded Dragon Santa Suit
A bearded dragon in a Santa suit is a level of festive chaos I fully support.
Gifts Every Pet Seems to Love

Plush Throw Blankets
My dogs and cats both instantly claim these blankets the moment they appear. They’re soft, cozy, and wash really well — essential in a multi-pet household.

Petlibro Automatic Feeder (Black Friday Sale!)
Dexter has stage 2 kidney disease and needs small meals every few hours. This feeder has been a lifesaver for him. It ensures he gets the right portion at the right time, even if I’m asleep or out of the house. The RFID/color system also prevents the other animals from stealing his food — which was a constant problem before.
Since switching to this feeder, his stomach issues disappeared, and he’s back to being a happy, stable little guy. If you have a senior pet, a chow-hound, or one with medical needs, this is genuinely one of the best gifts you can get.
