Taylor Swift’s new album just shattered records — in a single day
Taylor Swift isn’t just living The Life of a Showgirl — she’s running the whole box office.

Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album moved a staggering 2.7 million copies in the U.S. in a single day, according to industry tracker Luminate. That’s not a typo. One. Day.
For context, The Tortured Poets Department (her last blockbuster) needed a full week to hit 2.61 million equivalent units. Swift topped that before Saturday brunch. The album was released on Friday, Oct. 3.
Even more impressive was that those first-day numbers already make The Life of a Showgirl the second-largest sales week in modern history, behind only Adele’s 25, which sold 3.38 million in 2015. Swift still has six days left on the clock.
The vinyl empire strikes again
Swift’s fans aren’t only streaming, they’re buying objects. The album has already shattered the vinyl sales record, moving 1.2 million copies in under 24 hours. And the previous champ…also Taylor. (Tortured Poets clocked 859,000 vinyls last year.)
Part of the frenzy comes down to what Swift does best: options. Target alone is selling three CD versions: It’s Frightening, It’s Rapturous, and It’s Beautiful. Plus an exclusive pink shimmer vinyl dubbed The Crowd Is Your King. Other collectors can chase down limited runs like The Tiny Bubble in Champagne Collection or The Baby That’s Show Business Collection.

Each edition has unique artwork or packaging, meaning superfans are scooping up multiple copies, and Swift’s sales numbers are reaping the rewards.
And she’s still not done
On Saturday, Oct. 4, Swift unveiled four new CD variants featuring stripped-down acoustic recordings. Because if there’s one thing she’s mastered, it’s keeping fans in permanent checkout mode.
Oh, and while she was rewriting chart history? She also dominated the box office. Her three-day event film, The Official Release Party of a Show Girl, debuted at No. 1 with $33 million in North America.
Between the records, re-releases, and a full-blown theatrical takeover, Taylor Swift isn’t just living The Life of a Showgirl — she’s proving she’s the hardest-working headliner in the business.
Her latest album isn’t just lighting up the charts — it’s lighting up cities, too, with landmarks across the country glowing in her honor. And with her love story continuing to unfold on the world stage, some are already wondering if she and Travis Kelce could join the ranks of the biggest celebrity weddings of the last 20 years.
