Eric Stonestreet Marries Lindsay Schweitzer in Intimate Kansas City Wedding
Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet is officially a married man. The actor tied the knot with longtime partner Lindsay Schweitzer on September 8 in a private ceremony at their dream home in Kansas City.
The couple chose the date for a sentimental reason; it falls right between their birthdays. Stonestreet, 54, shared the happy news on Instagram with wedding photos and a playful caption: “It’s my birthday and guess what I got.”
In the photos (see below), Stonestreet wore a navy blazer and tie, while Schweitzer stunned in a satin gown with crystal belt detailing. The newlyweds shared their first dance surrounded by acoustic musicians in their own backyard.
The celebration drew warm wishes from friends and fellow stars. Stonestreet’s on-screen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson chimed in with a cheeky comment: “Of all second marriages, this one is my favorite! I love you both! I’m so happy for you!!!!” Octavia Spencer and Justin Mikita also sent their congratulations.
A Longtime Love Story
The pair first met in 2017 at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City, with PEOPLE later confirming their relationship. Stonestreet has often spoken about Schweitzer’s calming influence, joking with Ellen DeGeneres back in 2017 that she was a perfect match for his hypochondriac tendencies.
After dating for several years, he proposed in August 2021. At the time, Stonestreet admitted it wasn’t a big production, just a spontaneous, meaningful moment.
Earlier this summer, he told PEOPLE that the plan was always to marry at home. “We got engaged and then all of a sudden got an opportunity to build a house, and I thought, no better way to start a relationship than literally building a foundation,” he said.
Now, the couple has officially done just that, celebrating their marriage in the house they built together.
