I have been working up the courage to wear a crop top for years now…and I’ve finally taken the plunge! But thanks to my lovely high-waisted shorts and midi skirt collection that I’ve been adding to over the years… I don’t actually have to show skin unless I want to. As you can see with this outfit, I’m not really showing my midriff, unless I’m reaching for something. (I did have a little skin showing when I was hanging on in the subway, other than that, no one saw my belly.)

This crop top might be the first online find of all time (for me), that looks better in person than it did on the site. It’s really inexpensive, so I wasn’t expecting much for quality. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this package. This top is so silky and elegant looking in person. I absolutely love it. Even my husband kept remarking on how cute this top was. (And if you remember, he’s now numb to my outfits. Haha.)

The day I wore this outfit it was so darn humid I was honestly getting a bit claustrophobic because it was hard to breathe in the thick air. I was really glad I’d finally worked up the courage to wear this top because it was perfect for a day of sweating my rear end off, haha.

And if you’re wondering where I am in these photos, I’m actually in the Imperial Gardens. Floral for the Imperial Gardens… very original, right? Haha. They were really beautiful, and I’ll be showing more photos of the gardens and the Imperial Palace tomorrow!

And sorry if you’re sick of seeing my Salt Water Sandals. When I packed to live abroad I only brought a few pairs of shoes with me that would be versatile and comfortable to walk all day in. My Salt Water Sandals made the cut.

These are also the only pair of shorts I packed too. So, you haven’t seen the last of these either! (Sorry!) They made the cut because they’re the only pair of shorts I feel comfortable wearing…as they’re not terribly short and they’re not always giving me a wedgy, like all my other shorts!

What do you guys think of crop tops? And what shoes would you pack to live abroad? Let me know in the comments!

Aw, thank you, Tassia! And unfortunately, sometimes you just have to give into practicality, haha. But I do have a couple pairs of heels along! They’re just not getting quite as much use as they used to. 🙂

  6. Joanna Joy says:

Your crop top is so cute. I’m a huge fan of florals. Those sandals are awesome and you shouldn’t feel bad about wearing them a lot in your photos. I would wear tan strappy sandals with a covered toe to travel. I hate humidity too. It’s the worst. Stay cool!

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Thank you so much, Joanna! I love florals too. 🙂 And humidity is the worst, haha. Thank you – I’ll try! 🙂

  7. The Imperial Gardens re so beautiful! And I loved your crop top, with flowers, so sweet, feminine! You look so beautiful! I agree with you, you don’t have to show skin unless you want to. For your first crop top, I found the way you wore it so cool! I don;t usually wear crop tops, but I would like too! The way you wore yours inspired me! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Aw, thank you so much, Denise! I’m so glad you liked this outfit! I hope you have a lovely weekend too! 🙂

  8. I’m quite a bit standoffish to crop tops too, because I don’t want to show skin. But I have found that wearing crop tops over dresses is quite a good way to wear them.
Anyway, you look absolutely darling in this beautiful outfit. Amazing photos – so serene looking, the place.
    Hope you are doing well!
    Much love,

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

I’m not a big fan of showing much for skin either..I just don’t feel comfortable doing it. Oooh, wearing it over a dress – that’s a good idea! And thank you so much, Mona! 🙂 Much love to you too!

  9. Laurie Duncan says:

This is cute! I would have a hard time finding something that would really be a crop top on me, since I’m so short waisted.:)

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:

Thank you so much, Laurie! Haha, I don’t think this top would be a crop top on you then! I would say my waist is not really long or short and this one hits just below my belly button. 🙂

  10. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your top Sweety! Your shorts are adorable too! Going to check and see if they’re available in old Aunty size! Lol
    Hugs Sweety!

    1. haveclotheswilltravel says:
