Phrases That Annoy: 10 Common Sayings That Make Everyone’s Eyes Twitch

The world is filled with people who sometimes utter words that don’t go hand-in-hand. Unfortunately, this happens a lot more than usual in the era of technology and social media. And a fair number of sayings can make your eyes twitch. Let’s go through some phrases that fall into this category.

1. Freshers Overworked

One of the users said that hearing the word “freshie” is annoying for anyone who gets hired. Several businesses often hire “Freshies.”. The reason for this is that new people don’t have much experience in the workplace yet. They’ll work extra hours if they have to, even if it doesn’t pay extra. Another one further adds that looking for ‘fresh’ employees just means that the company just wants them to overwork. And take on a lot of duties that may not fit the role already.

2. At Work: “We Are a Family”

Someone commented that they really don’t like it when the family tag is used at work. When they tell you about being a ‘family,’ they expect them to work to fill in for others, take on their emotional baggage, and all that, when they don’t give you anything in return, not even an apology.

3. Gimme an Expresso

One of the respondents has said something relatively frugal yet very relatable here. The most common words go misspelled, and they mention an eye-twitching, intensifying thing, especially the ‘Expresso’ part of it. But that’s not all. Other people have uttered more words like skrawberies, ambilance, worst case Ontario, only on Valentimes Day, and a lot more. Hearing the wrong pronunciation of words and phrases is quite annoying, isn’t it?

4. I Could Care Less

Another voice chimes in and shares that the phrase “I could care less” is often wrongly used or mistaken for its meaning. They add that it actually means, “I couldn’t care less.” They further share their point of view by mentioning that when you say that you ‘could care less’, it implies that you do, in fact, care, even if it is just a little bit. But that drifts away from the actual meaning of the phrase.

5. You should Order Pasgetti

Pasgetti isn’t all. Many food-related eye-twitching phrases are related to the off-spelling of certain food items such as sammiches, buhtatoes, and whatnot. A contributor even implies that she hates baby words, baby talks, and baby voices. Apparently, anything related to babies that ‘grown-up’ adults do is an annoying act.

6. Having Fun?

To your surprise, someone replies about how their sarcastic question led to quite a positive response (which shouldn’t have been the case). How would you respond to “Having fun or Funly having?” You’d drop dead out of laughter, yet their coworker responded mildly. Which just ticks somewhere it shouldn’t tick.

7. Mixing Pronunciation and Quotes

In one of the comments, the guy says that they once messed with someone by saying potato in a weird manner. “po-TAY-to, po-TAH-to.” What a way to tick someone off. And yet he goes on with another one after that, which was a saying gone wrong as,” whatever floats your goat.”

8. No Offense

People often insult you all they want, right to your face, and then just hit the tag, “No Offense,” at the end and feel like everything is fine. Somebody said that this was something very lame and an insult to them that didn’t even apply to them. And then marking it off, as mentioned earlier, makes one twitch their eyes in extreme annoyance.

9. Astrology Signs

Some say that they absolutely despise the act of when some people put the blame for their own bad behavior on their astrology signs. “I’m a Virgo, Virgos are like this and this…,” or “Capricorn things,” and so forth. But it doesn’t make sense, does it? According to the people, this should not be the case. People shouldn’t mark their shortcomings as general flawsflaws to their zodiac sign.

10. OCD ADHD

An individual thinks that it really makes their eyes twitch when people mention their mental health conditions in the open. OCD people get anxious over some stuff, and ADHD people are quite overactive or depressively depleted. They say that people overly expressing such conditions is an eye-twitching and annoying phrase.
