Add in the fact that being around flowers reduces stress and triggers happy hormones. While spring may be peak cherry blossom season, you can find these good-for-the-soul flowering trees blooming year-round in Europe and across the globe including India, Australia, and South Africa.

Travel experts at Away Holiday recently provided blooming insights on the best spots around the world where you can catch these breathtaking springtime blossoms in full display.

1. Cherry Blossoms in Thailand – “Sakura of the Tropics”

Best Time: January–February

Thailand’s warm, tropical climate with a bit of highland chill makes Chiang Mai (Doi Inthanon National Park), Phu Lom Lo the perfect spot for these pink blossoms to thrive. It’s a good idea to visit the park early in the morning since the mist adds a dramatic, contrasting effect to the pink canopy, making it the unrivaled “Sakura of the Tropics.”

Best Time: Late March to early April

Gion, Maruyama Park, and the Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto are historic streets that look straight out of a postcard or painting. Make sure to plan and book accommodations 12 months in advance, though, as Japan’s cherry blossom season is peak travel time.

The spring air, lively parades, and an early morning walk along the National Mall make this a must-visit spectacle.

Note: The National Arboretum in D.C. is also a wonderful place to view the blooms, with far fewer crowds than you will find by the Tidal Basin.

Besides cherry blossoms, Ashikaga is also renowned for its famous 150-year-old wisteria trees that form a gorgeous purple and white wisteria tunnel.
