What is Anatomie Clothing

When it comes to travel clothing, Anatomie stands out from the crowd. This brand is a luxury travel clothing brand that was founded in 2006 by Kate and Shawn Boyer, a husband-and-wife team with a passion for creating clothing that combines comfort, style, and durability. Anatomie claims to focus on using high-quality, lightweight, and wrinkle-free fabrics that are perfect for life on the go.

According to their website, Anatomie’s clothing is meticulously designed with the traveler in mind. Their pieces are designed to be not only stylish but also highly functional. Their clothing also comes with a lifetime guarantee that covers any repair or replacement of an item forever. You just need to have proof of purchase.

You can find Anatomie clothing in high-end retailers ranging from Nordstrom to Saks Fifth Avenue. However, all of the clothing in this review came directly from the Anatomie website. I also recommend purchasing directly from them so it is easier if you need to utilize their lifetime guarantee.

Anatomie features both women’s and men’s clothing. However, for this Anatomie review, I will only be focusing on their women’s travel clothing.

My Anatomie Clothing Review: Putting Anatomie to the Test

As a frequent traveler, I understand the importance of having comfortable and stylish clothing that can withstand the rigors of travel. That’s why I decided to put Anatomie’s clothing to the test on several wildly different trips – ranging from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Samburu, Kenya to right at home in Wisconsin.

I will begin by reviewing each item of clothing individually for its sizing, fit, quality, and overall aesthetic. I will then end with an overview of my thoughts on Anatomie sizing and whether or not I think this brand lives up to its expensive price tag.

Kate Skinny Cargo Pants Review

Anatomie is perhaps most known for their travel pants. Their Skylar Travel Pants are a customer favorite that you’ll find mentioned in many other reviews.

I opted for the Kate Skinny Cargo Pants simply because they are quite similar to the Skylar Travel pants but would tuck into hiking boots better, and they were in stock in my size at the time I placed my order for my trip. (The Skylar pants were sold out.)

Anatomie’s size chart is also accurate. I am never a size small in pants. However, based on my measurements, the size chart says I am a size small. I didn’t believe this and initially ordered a size medium. The size medium was way too baggy through the waist on me. I would have needed to wear a belt with them, and even then, they would have looked kind of goofy. I ended up exchanging them for a size small (like the size chart said), which is what you see pictured here.

Note: I am 5 feet 5 inches tall and these pants are plenty long on me.

These pants do fit quite snug, similar to a pair of leggings. Because of their tight fit, you can see everything in my pockets, which I don’t love. (I can just barely squeak my phone into the front pocket.) However, they are also just as stretchy as a pair of leggings and are SO comfortable.

They are also incredibly lightweight, which was perfect for when I took them on safari and could only bring a tiny amount of weight on the bush plane! They also dry quickly, so you can realistically wash these in the sink, hang them to dry, and wear them the next day.

These pants also breathe really well and are fantastic to wear on hot-weather vacations. I, personally, don’t wear them when it’s below freezing outside, as they are pretty lightweight and aren’t going to offer much in the way of warmth on particularly frigid days.

I do love these pants and wear them on the majority of my travels. However, the one negative I have to say about these is that they are quite form-fitting. I have a rather curvy bottom half and would not feel comfortable wearing these pants in a more conservative country without also wearing a top that adequately covered my butt.

  • Very Comfortable
  • True to size
  • Lightweight

Anatomie Wrinkle-Free Marine Travel Dress Review

Anatomie - Travel Marine Winkle-Free Wrap Dress

Anatomie also offers a range of stylish dresses that are perfect for travel. The Marine Wrinkle Free Wrap Dress is the one I own. I ordered this dress five years ago to add a versatile “little black dress” that wouldn’t wrinkle to my travel wardrobe.

For this one, I ordered my normal size medium. This matched with what the Anatomie size chart recommended for this dress. This dress fits me perfectly, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any smaller or larger.

Again, this is a pretty form-fitting dress. However, the faux wrap style and ruching make it flattering and comfortable to wear. Wrap-style dresses look good on everyone!

I really like how versatile this dress is. I can dress it down a bit with a pair of flats or sandals. Or I can dress it up for a formal event with heels. It’s also super comfortable to wear. In the photo above, I wore it for a super humid, sticky day of sightseeing and then a night out in Rio de Janeiro and was perfectly comfortable wearing it all day.

My favorite aspect of this dress, though, is that it does NOT wrinkle and is pretty lightweight. So it’s a great dress to throw into your luggage in case you might need a LBD on your trip.

This is by far the highest quality travel dress I own. This Anatomie dress is quite pricey (as are most things made by Anatomie). However, I really do feel like this dress looks like an expensive dress. It’s also held up well over the 5 years I’ve worn it traveling and at home. It’s my go-to little black dress.

Pros and Cons Overview of Anatomie Travel Dresses

Pros
  • Very flattering on all body types
  • Comfortable to wear all day
  • Versatile
  • Absolutely beautiful
  • Wrinkle-free!
  • Breathable
  • High quality
Cons
  • Form-fitting, won’t be appropriate for all vacations
  • Expensive

Melissa Pima Cotton T-Shirt Review

Wearing a straw fedora and black Anatomie t shirt in a field of sunflowers

The Melissa Tee adds a fashionable element to a plain tee with its mesh sleeves and shoulder panels, which is why I ordered it. It’s now one of the most complimented tops that I own.

This tee I ordered in a size small based on the Anatomie size chart for it. This is once again true to size. It’s a flattering fit without being too clingy.

This shirt is fantastic for travel because it is so versatile. It looks great under a jacket or cardigan, or on its own with jeans or pants. It can be left untucked or easily tucked into a skirt or pants. I feel like a million bucks when I wear it.

It’s also very comfortable and breathable to wear for an entire day of traveling. It’s also fantastic quality. I am someone who is very sweaty no matter what I’m doing, and I get some pretty awful BO when I travel. So, after I wear this shirt, I throw it in my washing machine and wash it on “heavy duty” to remove any odor from it. (I don’t dry it, though.) Despite not handling this tee with care, it looks just fine after 5 years of use.

The only cons I have to say about this tee is the black color will require you to take a lint brush to it before you wear it. Also, while it’s the most wrinkle-resistant top I own, I wouldn’t say it’s 100% wrinkle-resistant. There have been times when I’ve felt the need to steam this tee after I’ve pulled it out of my suitcase.

Pros and Cons Overview of the Melissa Tee

Pros
  • Very fashionable
  • Comfortable and flattering
  • Not too clingy
  • Versatile
  • Breathable
  • High-quality
Cons
  • It will likely need to be lint-rolled before you wear it
  • Not 100% wrinkle resistant

Tania Top Review

Now, I think this used to be called the Nikki Long Sleeve Shirt. However, I can’t find it on the Anatomie website anymore, but this Tania Top looks identical to the one I ordered more than 5 years ago. (Please note, it is no longer available in white. There are only green and black available.)

As with the tee above, I am also a size small in this Anatomie shirt based on the size chart. This one also fits great.

Working on my blog from my patio this summer

This is a great top for business trips, Zoom calls, or even just a normal day at the office. It looks great with dress pants and jeans, but can also be tucked into a skirt.

As with the Melissa Tee, it doesn’t wrinkle as easily as most of my tops, but I wouldn’t say it’s 100% wrinkle-resistant either. This also might be my own fault, but it seems like after a couple of washes this top was no longer bright white but kind of more of a dingey off-white color. This might be due to my nasty well water at home, though, and not Anatomie’s fault. I’m not sure about this one.

Pros and Cons Overview of the Tania Top

Pros
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Looks professional
  • True to size
  • Versatile
Cons
  • Not 100% wrinkle resistant
  • Didn’t seem to hold up well in the wash

My Overall Verdict on Anatomie Sizing and Quality

I have washed and worn my Anatomie pieces numerous times, and, other than my Tania top, they still look as good as new. The fabric retains its shape and color, and the stitching remains intact. This level of quality and durability gives me confidence that my Anatomie clothing will continue to be a staple in my travel wardrobe for years to come.

Anatomie’s sizing does vary slightly from item to item. However, their size chart for each item is accurate. Make sure you know your measurements before you order from Anatomie and look at the size chart for each item.

The Anatomie Experience: Customer Service and Satisfaction

In addition to their exceptional clothing, Anatomie also prides itself on providing excellent customer service. From the moment I placed my order to the delivery of my items, I was impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of their team. They were quick to address any questions or concerns I had, ensuring that my experience with Anatomie was nothing short of exceptional.

Anatomie offers a hassle-free return policy, allowing customers to return or exchange items within a 14-day timeframe (provided they were not a “final sale” item).

And again, their lifetime guarantee is not something you come across with many brands these days.

Final Thoughts: Anatomie, the Ultimate Travel Clothing Brand

While Anatomie is the most expensive travel clothing that I own, I do feel it is worth its price tag. The items I own are very stylish, are high quality, most are wrinkle-resistant, and they come with a lifetime guarantee.

I do realize the high price tag is less than ideal, but this is a brand I think you will get your money’s worth with, as they are classic items that you’ll be able to use for a variety of events for years and years. The cost per wear has been worth it for me.

Anatomie also holds sales a few times a year. Their Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals have included 20% off site-wide in the past. So, that is something to keep in mind too! If you can wait until Black Friday to place an order, you can save a good chunk of money on Anatomie clothing.

As someone who values both comfort and style, I can confidently say that Anatomie has exceeded my expectations. Their clothing has become an essential part of my travel wardrobe, allowing me to pack light without compromising on style or functionality. Whether you’re embarking on a long-haul flight or exploring a new destination, Anatomie is the brand that will keep you looking and feeling your best every step of the way.
