New Study Reveals the Top 5 Fall Foliage Destinations for 2025—With Flights Under $300
Airfare is dropping fast, and these cities combine peak colors with peak savings.
There’s a rare window when airfare dips, crowds thin, and the leaves start to turn. Fall 2025 is shaping up to be one of those moments. According to new data from Dollar Flight Club, round-trip fares to the country’s most colorful fall destinations are averaging under $300—and in some cases closer to $170.
Here are the five spots where autumn scenery and airfare savings meet.

5. Stowe, Vermont – $298 (-8% YoY)
Tucked into the Green Mountains, Stowe is the kind of place where covered bridges, church steeples, and fiery maples feel lifted straight from a postcard. Hiking trails and scenic drives like Smugglers’ Notch hit peak color in early October.
Fares are averaging just under $300 this season, down 8% year over year. For one of the most iconic foliage towns in the U.S., that’s a deal worth grabbing before the leaves drop.

4. New York, New York – $290 (-9% YoY)
You don’t have to leave the city to find fall color. Central Park’s 18,000 trees burst into red and gold by late October. But hop a train to the Hudson Valley or Catskills, and you’ll find rolling hills and river views at their brightest.
Round-trip flights into New York are averaging $290, nearly 10% cheaper than last fall. It’s one of the easiest and most affordable foliage gateways for travelers nationwide.

3. Burlington, Vermont – $278 (-9% YoY)
Set along Lake Champlain with the Green Mountains rising behind it, Burlington is a launchpad for Vermont’s most famous foliage routes. Day trips to Stowe or the Mad River Valley make it easy to see the brightest pockets of color.
This fall, average fares are down 9%, coming in around $278. If you’ve ever wanted to tick “New England in the fall” off your list, this is the year to do it without sticker shock.

2. Boston, Massachusetts – $260 (-8% YoY)
Boston balances big-city charm with easy access to fall drives through western Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Even inside the city, spots like the Public Garden and Boston Common turn into a canopy of orange and red.
Fares are averaging $260—an 8% drop compared to last year. For a city that connects directly to some of the best foliage in the country, it’s one of the strongest value plays of the season.

1. Asheville, North Carolina – $170 (-10% YoY)
When the Blue Ridge Mountains glow gold and crimson, Asheville becomes one of the country’s most stunning fall destinations. The Blue Ridge Parkway, stretching more than 450 miles, is lined with overlooks where you can watch the colors roll across the ridges.
Round-trip airfare is averaging just $170, down 10% year over year, the lowest of any foliage destination in the study. Between the scenery, breweries, and affordability, Asheville tops the list for 2025.
