Outfit Remix – 1 Midi Skirt, Styled 4 Different Ways

I’m trying something a little different today, instead of a whole new outfit post… I’m taking a look at how I styled one of my favorite skirts, 4 different ways. I actually re-use my dresses and skirts pretty frequently on my blog, but I’ve always tried to not call too much attention to it. For some reason, it made me feel like a “bad blogger” to not have a brand-spanking new outfit each time I post. But it’s just crazy (and not exactly practical) to only wear/feature my items one time! So, I’m getting over my feelings of being a bad blogger when I re-use key clothing items…and hoping you guys don’t mind seeing some old outfits! If you like this post, please let know in the comments…because I have all kinds of dresses/skirts I can show off in remix posts (and I could make these remix posts a regular occurrence).

But anyways! Let’s talk about the star of today’s post – my midi skirt! This lovely green, Tatyana Boutique midi skirt, which is adorned with little velvet fans, was actually one of my very first purchases from ModCloth. I had bought it for a trip to Rome/Vatican City a couple years ago…and wore it in Vatican City when I went to see Pope Francis. (You can see that post by clicking here.)

This skirt is incredibly well-made and versatile. As I’ve said, I’ve had it for years and use it frequently. And a major plus – I can throw it in the washing machine at the end of the day instead of having it dry cleaned (phew!). The only negative about this skirt is the pleats make it a bit hard for me to iron…but I’m not terribly great at ironing my clothes anyways. So, a normal person probably would not struggle with ironing this skirt as much as I do, haha. But the BEST part of this skirt is how wonderful it is for twirling!! Almost all the posts featuring this skirt are of me twirling in it, haha. See for yourself in the photos below!

1.) The Neighbors Think I’m Crazy

“The Neighbors Think I’m Crazy” outfit post featuring this skirt, is hands down my favorite way to style it. The heels and polka dot tights really complement the retro vibe this skirt has. It’s one of those outfits that I always get compliments on, and it is still one of my most popular outfit posts. This is also one of my favorite outfit posts because it was the first time I tried taking photos with my timer and tripod..and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out! Plus, I had so much fun trying to capture the perfect twirling photo, haha. I also included my first set of blooper photos in this post.

2.) Just Keep Spinning

As the name implies, this post featured a whole lot of me spinning! Haha. This outfit was incredibly comfortable for a day of exploring The Met in NYC and strolling through Central Park (which is where these photos were taken). It was incredibly warm this day…so, pairing the skirt with lighter colors, instead of the normal black, was a must. I think the lighter color scheme looks quite nice too!

3.) A Fan-tastically Whimsical Skirt

This was actually one of the very first outfits I ever styled for my blog! I was just using my trusty old iPhone for photos (please excuse the photo quality)…but this outfit has such a cool/casual yet dressy vibe to it. It’s still one of my go-to summer outfits. I love it! I’m a firm believer that you can never go wrong with a skirt and wedges. Wedges (in my opinion) are just as dressy as heels but are a million times easier to walk in and a thousand times more comfortable. Haha.

4.) Swings, Skirts & Sunshine

Not only does this skirt always make me want to twirl, it also makes we want to play on swings for some reason. Haha. This is my most recent post with this skirt, but it wasn’t the first one that featured a swingset with it. (A Fan-tastically Whimsical skirt did too.) This skirt works nicely with brighter colors too! And as some of my fellow Wisconsinites pointed out, this outfit is a great green and yellow look for the Packers (our NFL team). Haha. I’m hoping to incorporate some more bright colors with this skirt soon after trying this outfit out!

*Bonus: My Vatican City outfit
Modcloth skirt

This is the first time I ever wore this skirt! It was in Vatican City the day of the Papal Audience…when I was super duper close to Pope Francis. This outfit is essentially the same as my “The Neighbors Think I’m Crazy” outfit (but I still thought it was fun to show off!), with my heels being swapped out for some more appropriate walking flats. And I’m wearing my Pride & Prejudice scarf from Storiarts.

  1. Skirt twins forever! I remember when I wore the red version a few months back you made me feel sooooo much better by saying you had trouble ironing it too (bc in my photos it was clear there was a wrinkle or two left behind). This really is a hard skirt to iron!! It’s so versatile and lovely though, so it’s worth it! I think it’s fun to remix outfits so never feel bad about that! And I almost forgot you were blonde when we “met” online! You look good in all colors! XO

    1. Yess! Skirt twins! And I also was glad that you said you had issues with ironing this skirt! It is hard to iron, then! But it is totally worth it! And, aw, thank you so much! It’s crazy to think how long ago we “met” online. 🙂

  2. YES! I love remix posts!!! I love to see how people style and restyle an item of clothing. And it makes me feel better about wearing something a lot! You are so right, it’s more practical that way! Just showing everything once on the blog would mean you have to buy new clothes all the time, and lets get real, who’s got money for that?!
I am a ‘yes’ for future remixes. Also, I think I like the first outfit the best too. They are all very beautiful though, you can really tell it’s a versatile skirt. I also love it with the yellow cardi!
Hope you are having a great week.
    Much love,
    Mona

    1. Yay! Glad you’re a fan of remix posts too, Mona! And exactly, who has the money to do that? Thank you so much, Mona! I hope you are having a great week too! Much love! 🙂

  3. I love remix posts! It’s so nice seeing the skirt in different ways! I reaaaaaaaaallly like the skirt – such a nice swishy shape and great length and SUPERB colour!!! The first one is the look I love best but all are fab. You made me laugh with your ironing comment- I hate ironing and I am bad at it!!

    1. Aw, thank you, Kezzie! I love how swishy it is too. 🙂 Haha! Glad I’m not the only bad at ironin!

  4. Yay for remixes! It’s great when bloggers show that having style doesn’t have to mean being an excessive consumer who is irresponsible with resources. We can be conscious of our consumption and still look as gorgeous as you are in every photo in this post 🙂

    1. Wahoo! I’m glad you enjoy remixes, Noelle! I will definitely be doing more in the future. I completely agree – we need to be conscious of our consumption of resources. Plus, it’s fun to be creative and show just how differently you can be when mixing and matching different pieces. Thank you! 🙂

  5. That is a great skirt! I would be in big trouble if I had to wear a whole new outfit for every post! But I like the challenge of trying new combinations. 🙂

  6. I like when a skirt or a pair of jeans – or coat, whatever 🙂 – is shown in different ways, you are not a bad blogger! I loved this skirt, my favorite ways were number 1 and 4 – there’s a vintage feel that I like very much!
